Our philosophy

Overview

The American Alternative Care Policy Network believes America's healthcare system should continually evolve by integrating the full spectrum of scientifically validated healthcare. That means embracing both emerging innovations and long-established medical traditions whenever evidence demonstrates that they improve patient outcomes.

AACPN exists to advance evidence-based policies that responsibly integrate complementary, traditional, Eastern, conventional, and emerging approaches into the American healthcare system. We believe every American should benefit from a healthcare system that draws upon the full spectrum of scientifically validated options, regardless of where a treatment or model of care originated.

Our work is particularly informed by the needs of veterans, trauma survivors, first responders, healthcare professionals, caregivers, and individuals living with complex physical, behavioral, or chronic health challenges. Their experiences remind us that no single discipline or treatment category can meet every patient's needs.

Healthcare should give clinicians and patients access to the full spectrum of scientifically validated tools so they can choose the treatment that optimizes patient outcomes.

Guided by science

AACPN believes healthcare systems should be guided by the best available scientific evidence. We support rigorous research, clinical evaluation, and the responsible evolution of healthcare systems as scientific evidence expands and demonstrates the safety, effectiveness, and meaningful patient benefit of additional therapies. Rather than distinguishing between conventional, traditional, or alternative medicine, we believe treatments should be evaluated on the strength of the evidence supporting them and their ability to improve patient outcomes, whether they are newly developed or have been used for generations.

AACPN applies one evidence-based standard to every therapy, technology, and model of care. Scientific validation—not origin or tradition—should determine what becomes part of modern healthcare.

Building a better healthcare system

Healthcare system.jpg

AACPN believes a stronger healthcare system integrates all scientifically validated approaches into patient care. Giving clinicians and patients access to a broader range of proven options supports more individualized treatment, improves outcomes, strengthens healthcare delivery, and makes more effective use of healthcare resources.

Supporting those who serve othere

AACPN believes our nation has a special responsibility to support those whose professions require extraordinary service and sacrifice. Veterans, first responders, healthcare professionals, social workers, and other frontline workers often experience elevated rates of occupational trauma, chronic stress, burnout, and service-related health conditions. They deserve timely access to safe, legal, and evidence-based healthcare options that maximize their opportunity to recover, remain healthy, and continue serving their communities.
