The American Alternative Care Policy Network (AACPN) welcomes the unanimous passage of Louisiana legislation establishing a state-backed psychedelic-assisted therapy research initiative focused on mental health and substance-use disorders.
The legislation reflects growing bipartisan recognition that treatment-resistant mental illness, PTSD, addiction, and veteran suicide require continued exploration of evidence-informed therapeutic innovation and expanded clinical research.
“A growing number of policymakers across the country are recognizing that conventional treatment models alone are not adequately addressing the scale of the nation’s mental health crisis,” said AACPN spokesperson Amanda Parker. “The conversation surrounding psychedelic-assisted therapies has evolved rapidly into a serious policy and clinical discussion centered on patient outcomes, scientific evidence, and expanding options for individuals suffering from treatment-resistant conditions.”
AACPN supports continued research and responsible evaluation of emerging behavioral health therapies, particularly for veterans and individuals suffering from severe treatment-resistant conditions.
